How does a top-mounted support system differ from a bottom-support design?
On a top-support shade, the support arms rise from the column and reach up and over the canopy, so the fabric hangs from a frame above it. On a bottom-support design, the frame sits at the lower edge of the fabric and the posts stand directly beneath it. Keeping the mounting hardware and structural connections above the canopy puts them above eye level, which gives the parking bay a cleaner, more open look from the ground. It also means fewer frame members at head and door height, so drivers and passengers have more room to move around the car. Wind-load performance is equivalent to a bottom-support frame when the steel and footings are sized correctly for the site, which our engineers do for every installation. Top support is the design we most often recommend for villa driveways, where the shade is seen every day and the look of the frame matters as much as the shade it gives.
Can the Top Support design be used for two-car and multi-bay layouts?
Yes. It is available from a single 6.0m x 3.0m bay up to a 6.0m x 6.0m two-car configuration, and custom sizes can be engineered for larger residential or commercial rows. In a multi-bay row, the columns and overhead arms repeat along the line at set spacings, so each additional bay adds a uniform module and the whole run reads as one continuous, tidy structure. Our team surveys the site to confirm the right bay width and post spacing before installation, checking where the car doors open, how vehicles turn into the bays, where underground services run, and whether the frame can be fixed to an existing wall or must stand on its own footings. For larger vehicles we raise the standard 2.5m open height. On commercial sites we align the columns with the painted bay lines, so the posts never end up in the middle of a parking space or in the way of a car door.
What maintenance does a Top Support Car Parking Shade need over time?
Very little. The PVC, PTFE or HDPE fabric and the hot-dip galvanised steel frame are chosen specifically to resist UV degradation and corrosion in the UAE climate, so routine care is mostly an occasional rinse with fresh water to clear dust. Avoid pressure washers and harsh chemicals, which can damage the fabric coating. Beyond that, the structure needs no painting or treatment for many years.
