Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between a gazebo and a cabana?
Both give you a roofed, shaded place to sit outdoors; the difference is how enclosed that place is and what it is for. A gazebo is a freestanding structure that is open on all sides — a roof on columns — so air moves through it and you keep the view of the garden, the pool or the sea. It works as a garden feature, an outdoor dining spot or a shaded seating area on a lawn. A cabana is more enclosed: some combination of side panels, curtains, louvers or low walls turns it into a private, lounge-like room that is common beside resort and villa pools and on beach clubs, often furnished with daybeds. Cabanas can be fitted with lighting, fans and power. In practice many clients want something between the two — a gazebo with one screened side, or a cabana with curtains that open fully — and we build either. Tell us how the space will be used and we will advise which fits.
Can gazebos and cabanas be combined with decking or flooring?
Yes, and it is usually the better result, because a structure standing on bare paving or grass never looks finished. We supply weather-resistant decking and flooring designed to pair with our gazebos and cabanas — composite and timber decking for pool surrounds and garden lounges, and safety flooring where the structure shades a children's area — and install the two as one coordinated project. Doing them together means the deck is set out around the column positions, the finished floor level is right for the roof height, and drainage and cable routes for lighting or fans are planned before anything is fixed. The result is a single, level, non-slip surface that ties the structure into the pool deck or garden, gives a safe footing around water, and stops the gazebo reading as an addition. If you already have a deck, we survey it and design the structure's fixings to suit it rather than cutting it up.
What materials are your gazebos and cabanas built from, and are they suitable for the UAE climate?
We build in steel, aluminium and wood, and all three are specified for the UAE rather than imported as garden kits. Steel gazebos are the strongest option for large spans and for roofs that carry fabric or louvers; the steel is hot-dip galvanised and then powder-coated or painted, which is what keeps it from corroding in coastal humidity. Aluminium is lighter, does not rust at all and needs the least upkeep, which makes it the usual choice for poolside cabanas and for sites near the sea. Wood gives the warmest, most natural look and is the right answer for a resort or a villa garden that wants it, but it needs periodic sealing or oiling to hold up under the sun, so we say so plainly before you choose it. Roofs can be fabric, louvered aluminium, timber or tiled. We recommend the material based on the site's exposure, the look you want and how much maintenance you are prepared to take on.
