What safety flooring is recommended for playgrounds versus gyms?
The two spaces need different things from the floor. A playground floor exists to absorb the impact of a child falling from a climbing frame or a slide, so it is specified by thickness and by the fall height it protects against: thick interlocking jigsaw mats or playground-specific rubber flooring, laid over a prepared base, with the thickness increased under the tallest equipment. Outdoors it also has to survive sun and heat, so the material and colour matter. A gym or martial arts studio floor is about density and durability rather than fall height: it has to take the weight of racks and machines without deforming, give a firm footing for lifting and grappling, resist sweat and cleaning, and stand up to constant foot traffic, which points to denser interlocking foam or rubber tiles and, for martial arts, a slightly softer mat with a non-slip surface. We recommend the thickness and material for each space based on its actual use and the equipment in it.
Do column protectors meet UAE safety compliance requirements?
Our column protectors do the job that safety requirements in car parks, warehouses, loading bays and schools are written for: they reduce the injury and damage that happens when a person, a trolley, a forklift or a car meets a concrete or steel column. They are foam or rubber guards, wrapped and fixed around the column at the heights where contact happens, in high-visibility colours so the column is seen before it is hit, and made from materials that stand up to UAE heat and, outdoors, to UV. Whether a particular facility needs a particular specification depends on the facility type and on the authority or client standard that applies to it — a warehouse operator's safety policy, a municipality car park requirement or a school's own standard each differ — so tell us the project's requirements when you enquire and we confirm the right thickness, height and fixing and supply the material details your safety officer needs.
Can safety flooring be installed alongside your other shade structures?
Yes — it is one of the most common combinations we install, and doing the two together is the point. A school play area needs both a tensile shade overhead and impact-absorbing flooring underneath; a villa or resort gazebo or cabana sits better on a proper deck or safety surface than on paving; a nursery garden needs fencing, shade and soft flooring in the same footprint. When we deliver them as one project the shade columns and the flooring are set out together, so the floor is laid around the column bases rather than cut afterwards, the drainage under the flooring is planned with the shade's rain run-off in mind, and the two are installed by one crew in one visit instead of two contractors scheduling around each other. The result is a single finished space with consistent detailing, and one point of responsibility if any part of it needs attention later.
