Industrial Shade Structures Umm Al Quwain

Industrial Shade Structures Umm Al Quwain

Shade Structures Designed for Umm Al Quwain's Climate

Umm Al Quwain's free zone and industrial plots in Al Maydan, its boatyards and marine businesses along the Khor, and its workshops and stores need covered space without the cost of a building, and an industrial shade structure — a galvanised steel frame with a fabric or K-Span steel roof — keeps UV, heat and the salt air's worst off yards, fleets, boats and materials. We design each one for the plot and the use and fabricate it at our Sharjah facility, under an hour away.

Fabric roofs in PVDF-coated PVC or HDPE cloth suit yards and car parks; K-Span curved steel suits workshops and stores. The structure is engineered and drawn for UAQ Municipality or the free-zone authority where approval is required, and installed by our own crews on a short programme that keeps the yard working.

Umm Al Quwain Shade Solutions — Frequently Asked Questions

Can industrial shades cover large logistics trucks?+

Yes. For industrial sites in UAQ's industrial area and Free Trade Zone, we design the clear height around the vehicles and equipment that will use the shade, so heavy goods vehicles, trailers and cranes pass underneath comfortably. Columns are positioned away from vehicle routes and turning circles, and wide spans keep yards open for loading. We study vehicle movements on site before designing and recommend column guards where there is a risk of impact. We can also build in lighting for night-time loading and gutters that carry rainwater away from vehicle routes.

Are the fabrics fire retardant?+

Yes. All membranes in our industrial shade structures for Umm Al Quwain pass international fire-retardancy tests, such as the B1 and M2 classifications, so the fabric resists ignition and does not spread flame. We provide fire certificates with every project for Civil Defence, insurers and facility managers. Near workshops with hot works or fuel storage, we can advise on separation distances or recommend steel sheeting instead of fabric. We keep certificates on file so they can be supplied again for licence renewals or insurance audits, and any replacement membrane comes with matching certification.

How do you handle foundations in industrial zones?+

Reinforced concrete footings for UAQ industrial shades are designed by our engineers from the site's soil report and wind loads. Industrial land near the lagoon and coast can be sandy, so footings are sized to resist uplift and overturning as well as vertical loads. We review drawings and scan for buried services before excavating, and where columns stand on an existing slab we check its capacity. Our Sharjah facility is close to UAQ, so work can be scheduled flexibly around your operations. The foundation design forms part of the drawings submitted for approval, and our site engineer supervises the concrete works.

Is it possible to enclose the sides?+

UAQ industrial shades can be partly or fully enclosed. Drop-down PVC curtains or corrugated steel cladding can be added to the sides of industrial shade structures in UAQ for security and weather protection. PVC curtains roll up for ventilation and drop down to block sun, dust and rain. Steel cladding with roller shutters creates a secure enclosed store or workshop. Near the lagoon, we specify cladding and fixings that resist salt, and the frame is designed for the extra wind load of enclosed sides. Sides can also be added later, provided the frame was designed for them, so it is worth mentioning at the design stage.
